Age-Friendly Omaha Listening Sessions: Recap

What helps older adults age well in Omaha? What challenges make daily life more difficult? What should our community focus on improving first?

Age-Friendly Omaha hosted a series of community listening sessions to hear directly from older adults and caregivers. These conversations will help shape future priorities and guide efforts to make Omaha a better place for people of all ages.

Whether you've lived here your entire life or just a few years, your experiences and ideas matter.

What happened

  • One-hour facilitated conversations were held across 6 locations, with 112 older adults providing input

  • Residents shared what is working well and what could be improved in Omaha

  • Light refreshments, coffee, and snacks were provided

Listening Sessions Recap

Age-Friendly Omaha hosted 7 listening sessions across 6 locations in the Omaha area.

Listening sessions were held at the following locations in August 2026:

  • Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging

  • Home Instead Center for Successful Aging

  • New Visions - Omaha

  • Immanuel Courtyard Village

  • Latino Center of the Midlands

  • Bennington Senior Center

112 older adults attended the listening sessions.

  • 98% said they would recommend the listening sessions to family or friends.

  • 70% of participants were over 60; 24% were over 80 years old

  • 25 Omaha-area ZIP codes were represented
